WIC Farmer's Market Nutrition Program (WIC FMNP)

Authorizing Farmers’ Markets and Farmers


Farmers’ markets must meet the following criteria to be selected and authorized for participation in the Arkansas WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program:

 image Be located in counties where participants are issued WIC FMNP checks.
 image Must include Arkansas/local farmers selling their own produce.
 image Must have or develop some formal organizational structure, i.e., a market manager or manager elected to represent other farmers.
 image Must be able and willing to supply information required by the Program for purpose of determining eligibility, monitoring and reporting.
 image Must be willing to comply with terms of the agreement between the market and WIC FMNP.
 image Must have regular and sufficient hours of business, days of operation and a consistent and sufficient number of farmers providing produce available for sale.


Farmers must meet the following criteria to be selected and authorized for participation in the Arkansas WIC Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program:

 image Must be selling produce in a market/farm stand authorized by WIC FMNP.
 image Must sell Arkansas/locally grown fresh, unprocessed fruits and vegetables on a regular and consistent basis during the months of May through October.
 image Must provide the WIC FMNP with the information contained on the application form and other information requested by the FMNP.
 image At least 50% of the Arkansas/locally grown fruits and vegetables sold from the stand/booth must be grown by the farmer or farmers occupying the stand/booth.
 image Must be willing to abide by terms of the agreement with the WIC FMNP.
