(HHI) is a locally owned and locally
controlled initiative that stresses collaboration, coalition building,
community health assessment, prioritization of health issues and the
development and implementation of community health strategies that are
locally designed and sustained. |

| HospiceQs |
| The
Arkansas Department of Health Hospice is a Medicare certified,
state licensed program to provide a special caring service to
patients who have a terminal illness in their home. Hospice care
is provided through a physician guided interdisciplinary group of
nurses, home health aides, social workers, counselors, and
volunteers to patients and their families. The program also covers
medications, medical equipment, and provides bereavement to the
family/caregiver after the patient dies. Hospice is on-call

Hearing Program |
| Identifies
the infants born in the State of Arkansas who are at high risk for
hearing loss and refers them to their primary care physician for
follow-up. Coordinates efforts in establishing Universal
Newborn Hearing Screening programs in the state's birthing
hospitals. Maintains a database of both infants at high-risk
and those who receive UNHS. |

| Provision of prenatal
delivery and postpartum services by certified nurse midwives. |

| Maternity |
| Prenatal and
postpartum care including a medical, nutritional and social assessment and case
management. Education on pregnancy, nutrition, labor and delivery, infant care,
reproductive health and parenting is also provided. High risk women receive nutritional
and social consultation. |

| A 24-hour source of information
and referral concerning both specific MCH/ADH projects and general health related topics. |

| Mobile X-Ray |
| Provision of x-ray services in
local health units that do not have x-ray equipment and other locations (e.g., nursing
homes) when a TB outbreak is suspected. |

| Mother/Infant Program |
| Skilled home nursing visits for
new mothers and their infants designed to ensure that medical, social and nutritional
needs are met. |

| Newborn Screening |
| Collection and
analysis of newborn screening specimens for phenylketonuria (PKU), congenital
hypothyroidism, sickle cell diseases and galactosemia; reporting of test results;
follow-up on abnormal test results including retesting; counseling offered for families of
infants with positive trait results; provision of medical information on various genetic
diseases. |
