Collect, analyze, and distribute data on arthritis.
The Arkansas Arthritis Program in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Health’s Center for Health Statistics conducts the arthritis module of the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System yearly.  The analysis of the risk factors provides a basis for the surveillance data collected. 

Establish and maintain statewide arthritis council
The Arkansas Arthritis Program maintains communication with council members through meetings, and other necessary means of communication. The Arkansas Arthritis Council assists in the development of the Arkansas Arthritis action Plan and guiding the implementation of the Plan.

Develop and promote public education awareness campaigns   
The Arkansas Arthritis Program is actively implementing the CDC arthritis communications campaign called “Physical activity. The arthritis pain reliever.”

The campaign consists of brochures, posters, radio PSAs that promote physical activity as a solution for people burdened with the pain of arthritis. The campaign targets African American and Caucasian population.
