Both the Arkansas Heating,
Ventilation, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration (HVAC/R)
Board and the State Committee of Plumbing
Examiners establish and administer the Arkansas Mechanical, Plumbing
& Gas Codes, which represents the minimum standards for installation,
alteration, and repair of mechanical and plumbing equipment and systems.
The agency employs or certifies inspectors responsible for
performing inspections in designated areas of the state and licenses plumbers,
plumbing inspectors, HVAC/R contractors and mechanical inspectors.

Our Mission
To protect and serve the citizens of
Arkansas by establishing standards for design, proper installation, and
inspection of plumbing, natural gas, air conditioning, refrigeration systems,
and by establishing minimum qualificational requirements for persons
installing such systems.

Vision Statement
It is the vision of the Division of
Protective Health Codes to promulgate a comprehensive and compatible
regulatory environment for both plumbing and mechanical systems, through
consistent performance-based regulations that are effective, efficient and
meet industry and public needs.
