Little
Rock -- The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) is
reporting two confirmed cases of West Nile virus, one
each in Ashley and Bradley counties. The two cases were
confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC).
“Arkansas
now has 16 suspect human cases pending confirmation from
the CDC,” Robert
Alvey, agency spokesperson, said.
“All of these suspect cases originated during the
mosquito season; the CDC is just clearing its backlog of
tests submitted nationwide. We know of no new activity
in the state.”

The
ADH reported two confirmed cases of West Nile virus, one
each in Drew and Pulaski Counties. The two cases were
confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention (CDC).
The
ADH also reported a suspect case of the virus in Pulaski
County. A sample from the suspect case was sent to CDC
for confirmatory testing.
