Little Rock - The Arkansas Department of Health is reporting two confirmed cases of West Nile virus in humans for Pulaski County. The Pulaski County cases were confirmed through testing by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The Department is also reporting one confirmed death from West Nile virus in Union County.

RECAP: For the Week Ending November 15, 2002

The Department reported on November 5 that it would no longer accept birds for testing this season. It also reported one confirmed case of West Nile virus in a human in Jefferson County based on CDC confirmatory testing. 

The Health Department is continuing to monitor the state for mosquito-borne diseases and has established a West Nile virus hotline to respond to public inquiries.  If you have a question, please call 501.280.4817 from 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.  For after hours and weekends, please call 1.800.554.5738.
