Little
Rock - The Arkansas Department of Health is
reporting one confirmed case of West Nile virus in a
human for Jefferson County. The Jefferson County case
was confirmed through testing by the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC).
The
Department is also reporting that Fulton County has
tested positive for birds with West Nile virus. West
Nile virus has been recorded in birds in 69 of 75
counties.

The
Department reported on November 5 that it would no
longer accept birds for testing this season. It also
reported the first suspect human case for West Nile
virus in Clark County and a confirmed human case for
West Nile virus in Desha County based on CDC
confirmatory testing.

Health Department is continuing to monitor the state for
mosquito-borne diseases and
has established a West Nile virus hotline to respond to
public inquiries. If
