Little
Rock - The Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health (DOH), reported that 67,000 gallons of gasoline were spilled today at the Razorback Pipeline Facility on Hwy 102 (also known as Hudson Road) in Benton County. The spill actually occurred on October 03, 2006.
However, the information in the previous release is important due to the potential threat resulting from gasoline spills. It takes time for the liquid and vapors to travel offsite through soil and water systems to residents.
The 67,000 gallons of gasoline is estimated to be equivalent to eight tanker trucks.
The Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality along with a private contractor will be conducting tests of the ground water offsite for contamination.
For more information, please call Ann Wright at the Department of Health and Human Services at (501) 661-2474 or Doug Szenher at the Department of Environmental Quality at (501) 682-0915.
