— The
Arkansas Department of Health is announcing that the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission (NRC) recently performed an Integrated
Materials Performance Evaluation Program (IMPEP) review of the
Arkansas program.
The Department received satisfactory ratings in each of
the six categories reviewed.
The NRC performs IMPEP reviews in agreement states to
determine if the state's program is adequate to protect public
health and safety and is compatible with the Nuclear
Regulatory Commission's program.
The
IMPEP team reviewed the following six performance indicators:
technical staffing and training, response to incidents and
allegations, status of radioactive materials inspection
program, legislation and program elements required for
compatibility, technical quality of inspections, and technical
quality of licensing actions.
Inspection accompaniments were also performed.
A satisfactory is the highest rating obtainable during
a review.
