The Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Health, Radiation Control Section has received notification from the Georgia Pacific Corporation’s Crossett operations of the loss of an industrial gauge containing radioactive material. This gauge is a NDC-104F (S.N. 114800) Paper Thickness Gauge used on a production line within this facility. The gauge contains an Americium (Am-241) radioactive source with an activity of 80 millicuries.
If this device is found, local law enforcement authorities and the Division of Health’s Radiation Control Section should immediately be notified. The Division of Health may be contacted at 1-800-633-1735. The gauge could be a health risk to persons if handled or carried for an extended period of time.
