Little
Rock -- Beginning April 18, 2005, Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) rules and regulations
for the retail food industry change. The new rules and regulations coincide with the federal Food and Drug
Administration’s Food Code guidelines and reflect current practices that assure the safety of consumers.
ADH Environmental Health Regional Leaders and Environmental Health Specialists have been preparing
for months to assist as new codes are phased in.
Raymond Heaggans, ADH regional program specialist for the state, explains, “The Health Department is
prepared to be flexible as operators work to bring their restaurants up to code.” Your local environmental
health specialist will assist establishments as they take steps to comply with the new regulations.
