Little Rock -- The Arkansas
Health Department (ADH) just received 5800 doses of influenza
vaccine according to Charles Beets, the
Arkansas Department of Health Communicable Disease &
Immunization Work Unit Leader. Beets said,
“The vaccine that is now available includes both the
preservative-free vaccine for children who are
under 4 years old and the adult formulation.” The Centers
for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta,
Georgia assisted in the procurement of the additional vaccine.
Beets said no more vaccine will be available
this flu season. CDC information and website cites the average
flu season in the United States as December
through March, although it varies from state to state.
Vaccine will be administered on
a first come first serve basis. Those who are interested in
getting a flu shot should contact their local
county health units for vaccine availability. A list of local
