Who: Emergency Medical Services Statewide
What: Arkansas Emergency Services Celebrate EMS Week with Parade of Lights & Stars of Life Recognition
When: Wednesday 17, 2006, 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
Where: Parade Begins at War Memorial Stadium, terminates at State Capitol Building Steps
Little Rock — Virtually every type of emergency vehicle currently in use in the state today will be on display in this year’s Parade of Lights, according to David Taylor, Section Chief of Emergency Medical Services for the Arkansas Department of Health & Human Services. The parade of lights will begin from its staging area at War Memorial Stadium on May 17th at 10:30 am and proceed to the State Capitol.
“We invite all of them—Ambulance Services, Fire Departments, Police Departments, Hazardous Materials vehicles, and First Responders Taylor said. “It’s a spectacular sight to see them lined up all the way down Capitol Avenue from the steps of the State Capitol.”
A ceremony will be held on the steps of the State Capitol following the parade to honor the men and women who provide emergency services for the citizens of Arkansas. This year’s theme is “EMS: Serving on Health’s Cares Front Line.” This slogan reminds the public that EMS is truly an extension of emergency medicine as well as injury and illness prevention.
The Arkansas Ambulance Association will introduce its second annual Stars of Life recipients. The Star of Life program is designed to recognize outstanding ambulance service employees and increase awareness of how valuable emergency medical services are to citizens around the state. This event is a highlight of National EMS Week held May 14-20, 2006.
Immediately following the ceremony a reception will be held at the Section of EMS & Trauma Systems, Freeway Medical Tower 5800 West 10th St. Suite 800, Little Rock from 12:00 until 1:30 pm.
