Little Rock—The
ABCCCP/BreastCare Program, administered by the Arkansas Department of Health, has granted
$3790.00 to Mid-Delta Health Systems, Inc. Funds will be used to assist the ABCCCP/BreastCare Program in
educating, identifying and enrolling eligible women for services and providing navigation assistance.
Eighty-four thousand dollars in federal grants was awarded to 20 community groups (community organizations,
hospitals, local health departments, Hometown Health Improvement community coalitions, schools and churches) across the state.
Local activities will include:
- Pink Carnation Sunday, April 28, 2002 from 2-4 p.m. at Clarendon Homecoming Club. Roosevelt Street local
churches have been invited to attend. Breast self-exams will be taught, and women will have the opportunity to
enroll in the BreastCare Program.
- Work site training will be available for local businesses interested in learning more regarding
breast and cervical cancer.
- September 2002 Phillips County Fair- Mid-Delta will have a booth to enroll females in BreastCare.
"Mid-Delta Health Systems hopes to educate Monroe County and surrounding counties on the importance of women's health.
We hope to educate, identify and help to enroll women in the BreastCare Program. We hope that this program will
allow more women to practice early detection. Mid-Delta has a number of employees helping to make this project successful,"
