What: A kick-off of the “Harrison Workforce Wellness Project”

History: The idea started 6 years ago when the Boone County HHI Coalition (the first ever in the state) prioritized Workforce Wellness (WW) and the need for affordable insurance for small businesses in the community as needs for Boone County. The sub-committee decided to pilot a workforce wellness project in the county in order to be able to show the business community that it IS cost effective to have a healthy workforce.

The Worksite Wellness sub-committee enlisted the help of Kersh Wellness, Inc. who agreed to donate their services. Harrison Mayor Bob Reynolds states “This is a very gracious gift that will provide our employees access to a nationally known wellness program. It is especially nice that it is located right here in our home state”. Kersh Wellness has many high profile clients such as Union Pacific Railroad, Anheiser-Busch, Harley Davidson and many others. They provide a proven research based wellness program that can be used by small, medium and large businesses alike.

The participating businesses in this project are Harrison City employees, Boone County Employees, Harrison Chamber of Commerce and the staff of the Harrison Daily Times. The program will last a year starting with biometric measurements and provide ongoing monitoring and health education. Employee incentives will be donated by the employers involved.
