The
Arkansas Healthy Aging Coalition
was started in June 2002 to combine older adult issues
into one focal point. The coalition allows people and
organizations interested in aging to more effectively
target health promotion and disease prevention efforts
for Arkansans age 50 and over.
The mission of the Arkansas Healthy Aging Coalition is
to promote health, wellness and disease prevention in
Arkansans age 50 and over.
The Arkansas Healthy Aging Coalition has selected the
following as focus areas:
| ► |
To promote collaboration and reduce duplication among agencies and
organizations that serve the 50+ population of Arkansas;
|
| ► |
To improve the status of the leading health
indicators, as identified in Healthy People
2010, among Arkansans 50+; and, with an initial focus on physical
activity, nutrition and tobacco cessation; and,
|
| ► |
To promote a positive cultural image of aging in Arkansas. |
| ► |
Workgroups have been developed to work on each of these focus areas: the Collaboration Workgroup; the Health Promotion Workgroup; and, the Image Workgroup. |
Membership in the coalition is open to any individual, or organization or agency, private or governmental, profit or nonprofit, with an active commitment to fulfill the Coalition’s mission throughout the state of Arkansas. To become a member, please complete the
