IF THEY ARE NOT RECOMMENDED, WHY USE ONE?

Home filters available on the market are effectively used by some customers to alter the taste of the water. However, they should not be used to treat bacteriologically unsafe water. If the water is bacteriologically contaminated and the system fails, you may be at risk. If you choose to use one of these units, contact the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure the unit is on the registry of microbiological water purifiers (treatment units used on bacteriologically contaminated water).
