Training and Workshops

To participate in a WIC Nutrition & Breastfeeding training, ADH staff:

Must match one of the categories in "Who Should Attend.”
Meet prerequisites.
  Register for the training on A-TRAIN.

Self Study Module: Competency Based Breastfeeding Training for WIC CPAs and Breastfeeding Peer Counselors

What:

Text-based module for independent study.  Allow 4 hours to complete.  Training materials will be sent upon registration on A-TRAIN.  Topics include basic information on promoting and supporting successful breastfeeding initiation and long-term breastfeeding management.  ArNA and ADA contact hours for continuing professional education credit will be awarded after a passing grade on the module post-test (assessment) is achieved and verified on A-TRAIN.

Who: RN, LPN, RD, Home Economist, Social Worker, and Peer Counselor.
Prerequisite: Need access to a computer and a printer.

What: Web-based module for independent study. Allow 4 hours to complete. Topics include benefits of breastfeeding, promoting a breastfeeding supportive clinic environment, and making the most of opportunities to promote breastfeeding. A certificate of completion will be awarded after a passing grade on the post-test (assessment) is achieved and verified on A-TRAIN.
Who: Clerk, PHT, and WIC Specialist
Prerequisite: Need access to a computer and a printer.

What: An eight-minute video that gives an overview of breastfeeding benefits and explains why it's important to promote breastfeeding.
