Where to Call for Help
The first place to try is the hospital where the mother delivered. Many Arkansas hospitals employ breastfeeding specialists who assist breastfeeding mothers even after discharge from the hospital.

County Health Units - Click here for a listing of staff members in county health units throughout Arkansas who can help a mother with breastfeeding. Most county health units are open Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30. Call the contact person on the list before traveling to the health unit.

Arkansas La Leche League Website - La Leche League is a mother-to-mother breastfeeding support organization. From the website, you can find telephone numbers and locations for local Arkansas La Leche League groups. Within the Little Rock Metropolitan area, call (501) 558-3342.
Arkansas Department of Health WIC Breastfeeding Help Line, 1-800-445-6175. Located in Little Rock, this line is answered Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30 by lactation specialists. There is no charge for information and advice.

Breastfeeding Helpline--English and Spanish. The National Women's Health Information Center is available at 1-800-994-WOMAN (9662) or 888-220-5446 (TDD) to answer breastfeeding questions in English and Spanish, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
